tool accessories

At Thunderbird Services, LLC, we provide a reliable selection of tool accessories built for performance in demanding oilfield environments. Our lineup includes T-2 On/Off Tools, pump-out plugs, ceramic disc subs, tubing swivels, and collar locators—each designed to improve efficiency, enhance safety, and reduce downtime on location. We focus on delivering durable, field-proven equipment that helps our customers complete jobs with confidence and precision.

T-2 On/Off Tools

designed to allow tubing removal and reinstallation without disturbing the packer below

The T-2 On/Off Tool is engineered to be run in conjunction with compatible packers, enabling operators to disconnect and retrieve the tubing string while leaving the packer securely set in place. A rugged bonded seal provides reliable isolation at the packer and is designed to withstand multiple connections for extended service life. Stingers are available with or without profiles to meet specific completion requirements, and the tool may be shear pinned for secure running using shear screws. Built for durability and operational flexibility, the T-2 On/Off Tool helps streamline maintenance and intervention procedures while maintaining well integrity.

Pump-Out Plugs

provide adjustable, reliable tubing isolation with simple pressure-activated removal

Pump-Out Plugs are designed to install at the bottom of the tubing string to isolate the tubing from the annulus during completion and intervention operations. The plug is removed by applying pressure to the tubing, shearing the designated screws to create a full opening for flow. Shear values can be easily adjusted in the field by adding or removing shear screws, allowing operators to tailor the release pressure to specific well conditions. Available with multiple thread configurations and optional ball seat designs, Pump-Out Plugs offer a flexible and dependable solution for controlled isolation and efficient well operations.

Ceramic Disc Sub

an economical pressure isolation tool designed for snubbing and pump-out applications

The Ceramic Disc Sub utilizes a proven concave ceramic burst disc to provide reliable pressure resistance below the sub, along with strong resistance to harsh chemicals and temperature fluctuations commonly encountered downhole. Installed at the bottom of the tubing string or below a production packer, the disc is burst after the packer is set to allow production flow. The single-disc configuration can be opened with applied pressure or a drop bar, while the dual-disc option—offering high-pressure resistance both above and below the sub—requires a drop bar for activation. Once opened, the tool provides a full-bore ID for unrestricted flow with minimal debris left in the wellbore. Available in multiple sizes and configurations, the Ceramic Disc Sub delivers flexible, dependable performance across a wide range of well applications.

Tubing Swivel

designed to minimize friction during rotation while maintaining secure surface connections

The Tubing Swivel reduces friction to ease tubing rotation and help prevent backing off the top collar during operations. It allows surface connections to remain in place while the tubing string rotates or moves vertically, improving operational efficiency and safety. Equipped with a high-capacity thrust bearing and an integrated lifting point for elevators, the swivel supports demanding field applications while accommodating one or two discharge or flow line connections—typically a transverse single-flow outlet. When required, wireline tools can be run through the swivel by replacing the standard handling sub with a hollow handling sub, providing added versatility during completion and intervention work.

Mechanical Collar Locator

provides precise identification of casing collar locations while running tubing

The Mechanical Collar Locator is designed to accurately detect casing collars during tubing operations, helping operators confirm depth and positioning when running in or out of the well. It can be installed at any point within the tubing string and oriented to indicate collar locations throughout the operation. Constructed from high-strength alloy steel, the tool body is built for durability and can be re-threaded multiple times to extend service life, while carburized locator blocks provide long-lasting wear resistance. A sand control version is also available for heavy sand environments, helping maintain reliable block movement and performance in abrasive well conditions.

Expansion Joint

engineered to accommodate tubing movement caused by temperature and pressure changes during injection and production operations

The Expansion Joint allows for controlled expansion and contraction within the tubing string, reducing stress on downhole equipment during changing temperature and pressure conditions. Commonly used between packers, it provides the necessary stroke for setting and releasing packers while also allowing rotation through the tool when required. Designed for versatility, the Expansion Joint is available in multiple configurations—including pinned, splined (keyed), clutched, and thermal options—with the ability to combine two or more features within a single tool. Optional seals support low- to high-temperature environments, and lengths are available up to 20 feet to accommodate a wide range of well designs and operational requirements.

Downhole Tubing Swivel

isolates downhole tools and casing from rotation above while maintaining smooth, reliable movement under load

The Downhole Tubing Swivel is designed to prevent the transfer of rotational forces to sensitive downhole tools, casing, or tubing, protecting equipment integrity during operations. Equipped with durable bronze bearing rings, the swivel ensures smooth rotation even under load, reducing friction and wear. Its simple, streamlined design allows for easy redress and maintenance, minimizing downtime in the field. With a full casing and tubing ID, the Downhole Tubing Swivel maintains unrestricted internal flow, making it a dependable and efficient solution for a wide range of completion and production applications.

Safety Joint- Swivel Shear

provides a dependable, positive release solution when tubing retrieval challenges are anticipated

The Safety Joint – Swivel Shear is engineered to ensure controlled, positive release of the tubing string in completion operations where sticking or retrieval issues may occur. Designed to safeguard both time and equipment, this tool allows operators to disengage the tubing string efficiently when necessary, minimizing costly downtime and intervention risks. Safety Joints are available in straight pull shear release, rotational release, and swivel shear release configurations to meet specific operational requirements. Built for reliability in demanding environments, the Swivel Shear version combines release capability with rotational flexibility, delivering added assurance and performance in complex well conditions.
